Default [Dixonary] Round 2907 vote for nodie

A short list this time. Vote for your two favorite defs for nodie no later
than 5 PM EDT, Friday July 13.

1. [Obs. Sc.] the head.

2. porridge; gruel.

3. one of several species of grass whose stems are without geniculation.

4. one of three pressure-sensitive failsafe switches on an industrial
log-splitting machine.

5. lack of respect.

6. [Philately] a stamp printed using a fugitive ink which has been
completely removed to simulate a "color omitted" variety.

7. the larva of the bean-fly.

8. also called Nodie.js: an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript
run-time environment that executes JavaScript code server-side.

9. a sixpence.

10. in computer games, a player who goes to a location that other players
are expected to visit and waits there. (Contrast with roadie.)

I vote for 6 and 7.

Guerri
P.S. I hope the short list means it's summer and people are outdoors and
not sitting by their computers, rather than a shrinking pool of players.

I'll take the two "one of" definitions:

3. one of several species of grass whose stems are without geniculation.

4. one of three pressure-sensitive failsafe switches on an industrial
log-splitting machine.

Default [Dixonary] Round 2907 vote for nodie

It's one of those rounds where I wish I could vote for three.
1 & 8 and an honorable mention to the roadie.

None of them are plausible, including my own. After eliminating a few that I think are even more implausible than the others, thus almost certainly also eliminating the real definition, I'll go for 1 and 9.

Whoops. Missed the definition deadline.

I'll invoke *Oliver! *and ask for more gruel, while singing a song of
sixpence. 2 and 9.
