Default RE: [Dixonary] DIXONARY - Round 3079 DIMBER - TIME TO VOTE

All – Here are 15 definitions of the word dimber. One comes from a dictionary, and the others from folks’ fertile imaginations. That does not mean that they’re wrong, of course, but perhaps not correct..

1. The allowance made in the dimensions of a machine component such as a turbine blade in a jet engine to compensate for expansion at operating temperatures.

2. A thimble

3. [Royal Navy slang] an incompetent deck officer.

4. A large, loosely-knitted scarf

5. [Obs.] a mediaeval term for an effeminate man [often combined with 'damber' as "a dimber-damber cantor" Chaucer The Summoner's Tale]

6. Of or relating to amoral or conniving political principles.

7. A guide rail on a mountain trail.

8. Archaic To bother; distress.

9. Pretty; as in a dimber cove, a pretty fellow.

10. A small hollow metal cone on the end of a handle, used to extinguish a candle by smothering the flame.

11. A streak of white on a horse's face. dialect.

12. A soft leather pad placed inside a shoe to ease the pressure on a tender spot.

13. A welding clamp.

14. A small deer of the Asiatic forest

15. To follow a winding or circuitous path.

Please let me have your votes by no later than 9AM Eastern Daylight Time Thursday June 11.

Best,

Alan
