Default COMPUSERVE boxes at AOL, not again, pls

has it started again? pls, someone say 'NO', and it is a hickup only.

since yesterday night (EUR) all mail send to COMPUSERVE addrss gets an error: '' ... host mta-in.
gmta in.mx.aol.com[64.12.138.152] said: 550 5.1.1 <xxxxxx.xxx@compuserve.com>: Recipient
address rejected: compuserve.com
.

there is also no POP3 access, and worse: also no access to webmail at all. seeing the error
counter there, it looks like 40-50 failed attempts per minute. not sure this says anything, but ...

have been able to check with 3 mailboxes, all the same. anybody here has any better news? mike?

so far this all lasted for about 12 hrs, but well during night in the USA, so lets see what happens
once they wake up.

greetings - heinz -

update: about 14 hrs after it vanished, WEBMAIL is back. but all boxes (have now checked several more)
have no incoming traffic for past 14 hrs, at all. not even SPAM managed to make it thru.

POP3 still not working, and mssgs sent to COMPUSERVE are still being error-returned. this leads to
several of the automatic collection agents (such as YAHOO) being fully turned off (i think after 10 futile
tries), so for those of you who wonder where their collected CSI mails are, you have to manually turn
the POP3 collection back on. once you know it works!

do i make sense?

Heinz, I've been getting my compuserve.com email just fine both POP3 as well as web mail. I'm in Houston, if that matters.

Perhaps there is something unique about your situation...e.g. cookies, anti-virus, etc., etc.

peter, on six different computers, and several accounts?

and what pls should cookies, anti-virus, etc. have to do with mail being sent and then rejected (see
above error report) by those mailboxes?

yes, it could well be that only a certain or several, but not all AOL servers are affected by this, and
thanks for reporting that yours isn't (last 15+ hrs, pls), but here (europe, but not neccesarily where
the servers are) it still is off.

and while webmail was off, their error report counter was as much as racing ! the 40-50/minute was
much on the low side, now rethinking it.

and i dont seem to be alone: there are already corresponding reports on the CSI Classic forum now,
but unfortunately just such, no firm fixes.

and if the YAHOO POP3 collecting service cannot collect, tries for hours, and then switches off, where
would it have anything to do with our local computers?

so, 20 hrs after it started, and around 11am east coast time, all is back to normal: POP3 works again,
and mail keeps being accepted in the boxes. and no spam whatsoever for 20 hrs - one has to see the
positive side of all this, too.

question: what was it?

pete, i guess i meant more the successor of the old classic system, the CS MAIL we are now using with
'1xxxx.1xx@compuserve.com' addresses. here you find plenty of comments and issues with that service:

the 'real' classic part used to be there too, and some comments are still there, well hidden.

mike, out of the loop would not mean you would not know something, or how to interprete
certain conditions.

whatever loop you are in now, i DO hope though you are well and things are looking a bit
brighter than last year.

wish you well, and stay in touch. the email works again ...

Thanks, Heinz. Yes, we are well, and we think things are brighter than last year.

We sold the albatross of a house, cutting our living expenses considerably. I work for a good company, for a great boss. The customer isn't so great, but I get a lot of support, so I tolerate it.

I'm glad the problem is resolved. ...cheers!
