Default [Dixonary] Round 3030: MECATE, Vote now!

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in posting these definitions. Extending the deadline,
which was fully justified, did not fit in well with what I had to do today.

I want to note that we have 12 definitions, including the real one, because
I thought to look in my junk folders (both emails). There I found Hugo
Kornelis and Tim Lodge.

So please vote for the two that attract you most by the deadline of 11:30
a.m. EST on Wednesday November 27. That is 4:30 p.m. GMT on the same day
and relevant times world wide.

Happy voting!

Nancy

1. Brush-wood or more properly windfall-wood.
2. [Mex. now Obs] a small copper coin worth about 10 cents
3. (Bot.) a fine fiber obtained from the leaves of pine trees.
4. a rope usually of horsehair that is used for leading or tying or as
hackamore reins
5. [Obs.] to abruptly terminate an argument.
6. a large, open boat made of skins stretched on a wooden frame
7. formed of thin layers; laminated.
8. [Sp] a personal space; literally "myroom"
9. a slurry of pig manure.
10. give oneself a particular title or status, rather than being given it
by other people.
11. To settle a dispute between third parties.
12. [Music] Performed with each note stretched until just before the next
note starts.

Nsncy,

I don't see my Colombian poncho here, or anything similar enough that it might be part of a combined definition. I sent it Sunday, at 6:36 pn EST, to your hotmail.com <http://hotmail.com/> address as requested. Do you recall seeing it?

I sent my cactus-variant through this site. As I lost a few defs, I

4 & 9 for me.

4. a rope usually of horsehair that is used for leading or tying or as
hackamore reins

9. a slurry of pig manure.

I'll fall for:

#5 - terminate an argument (because the word *sounds* obsolete)

#12 - because it sounds like one of those weird music terms

5 & 12
