offline browsing of Tapics.com forum archive
In the process of learning about [Dixonary] OT: unintended exposure of email addresses? , I happened to notice that the Tapcis.com archive http://www.tapcis.com/forums/archive is browsable in a normal "garden variety" way by using one's normal Internet web browser program (e.g. MS Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.).
I also happened to notice that there are a couple (at least) free offline browsers "out there". One apparently is an extension for Firefox: SCRAPBOOK http://amb.vis.ne.jp/mozilla/scrapbook/More: Quote:
I'm making this post because I'm curious if any of you readers might have tried something like this? IIRC, I'd used WGET some years ago, but probably more to get files and/or just a page, as opposed to a whole site, for offline browsing. Of course I've completely forgotten what its command line args are or do.

David--
Googling man wget produces this page and several others: https://www.gnu.org/software/wget/manual/wget.html Maybe that is a help? But the larger question: do we want these open to the world? And do they include the private forums?

Personally I am not liking to use command line utilities since I don't use MS-DOS any longer. That's why I use SUPER and Format Factory and VLC to convert and to play various multimedia files. If I had to do such by the various command line (multi platform incl. LINUX?) programs "under the hood", then I'd never get to first base. As to whether vbulletin archives of private forums exist here or not and who or how to access them, maybe Sidney could answer that?

BTW, FWIW, the Wayback Machine at archive.org seem to "drill down" only to this page:
http://www.tapcis.com/forums/archive and no farther. So, the actual tapcis.com public message archive contents seem not to appear anywhere in the Wayback Machine.

David, using your link, I was able to get into many of the posts, even after I logged out from Tapcis Web Forum. The Member's Only was not available to me that way, but I could see it existed.

I did not give any link to archive.org in the msg to which you replied. However, here is an example link to archive.org to show what I'm talking about: http://web.archive.org/web/200710151...x.php?f-2.html Note that it is dated Oct 15, 2007, both in the link itself and on the page linked to. If I then click 1. Welcome to the Tapcis Web Forums!, I am then taken to another archive.org page that says: Quote:
