voice/audio profile picture?
I don't even have an avatar or profile picture yet. So maybe this is just an academic question. But here goes.
1. Could a sound clip be made into a profile picture? 2. Would 64KB be the max size of sound clip allowed? 3. If such a thing would be possible, what audio format would be preferable? My "theory" would be that one could look at someone's profile and click on the link to the "picture" file and hear the clip play provided that one had the correct audio player installed as a plug-in in one's browser. Well, avatars have to be GIF, JPG, or PNG. I found that out when I tried to make a WAV file be my avatar.
The only other thing I can figure out would be to put a link to a sound file in place of the link to one's web site. David H. |

I had thought that it might make sense to have an icon one could click appearing on a message one wrote, and a recorded greeting would play when one clicked it. I wonder if one had an image of a recorded waveform as a "profile picture", are there any browser plug-ins that could take that graphic and reproduce something like the original sound from it? Just curious. I'm sure there would be better ways to play music or sound bytes. David H. |

Found an article on voice synthesis:
http://emusician.com/tutorials/emusic_voices_machine/ I skimmed it a little. Looked interesting. That'll be my "contribution" to blind screen readers, etc. for now. David H. |
