thread view & msg read-unread status

I normally use "hybrid" thread view.

I noticed that the behavior seems a little different since the forum software update. (Or maybe it has something to do with my using a different ID now?)

When I click on a message in the message tree so as to display just a subthread containing some unread messages (indicated as unread by the icon being colored more brightly instead of the default color), then other unread messages in other subthread(s) lose the colorful icon and go to the default color. This then forces me to look at the actual post times (instead of icon color) to determine which remaining messages in other subthreads are unread.

Is there a "remedy" for this?

Try using linear view.
