[Dixonary] Round 3014 CASCHROM voting time

Folks,

Fourteen definitions of CASCHROM follow. One is correct; thirteen are your concoctions. They have been edited (very slightly) for formatting consistency and are in ascending order of character count, which might not correspond to visual length in your email display font. Please vote for two that you like for any reason by public Reply to this message before the deadline that follows the list. If you realize that you know what CASCHROM means, please tell me by private email: emallach <at> verizon <dot> net.

1. a sanctuary.

2. [Ger.] CD-ROM.

3. black and white.

4. [Fr.] a paintbox.

5. a closet with sliding doors.

6. an imaginary mountain flower.

7. soft earth in a crack or mining fissure.

8. any coelacanth fish of the genus _Caschcromeria_.

9. [Bot.] The narrow, hollow part of a gamopetalous corolla.

10. a pair of related pictures or carvings on two hinged panels.

11. a foot-plough or crooked spade used for turning stony ground.

12. a receptacle for holding the sacred texts of Hinduism (the Vedas).

13. the pattern formed by using different colored blocks to build a round tower; often a clock tower.

14. a slow read-only memory made to appear fast through the use of caching at the micro-program level.

Votes are due 47+ hours from now: Monday, Sept. 16, at 9 am US EDT. According to timeanddate.com <http://timeanddate.com/>, that is:

and other times in other places. Please check any time conversion that applies to you. That site is good, but nobody's perfect, and time change season is approaching.

New players are welcome to vote. Submitting a definition is not a requirement for voting; the only requirement is that you not know what this word means. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> .

Vote on!

Efrem

RE: [Dixonary] Round 3014 CASCHROM voting time

Since nothing jumps out at me as being a "maybe," I'll go with the first and the last:

1. a sanctuary.

14. a slow read-only memory made to appear fast through the use of caching at the micro-program level.
