I think I mentioned this here before so I am providing an update. This
NET Framework thing produces an error in my ancient version of Firefox.

This morning I was prompted to install a new version of the Adobe Flash
Player, 11.1. I decided to go ahead and install it. Everything seemed
OK, and I even used Firefox with no trouble.

However, a few minutes ago I clicked on a link in an Email, and when
Firefox started, it produced that ".NET Framework Assistant is
incompatible with this version of Firefox" message! So my assumptions
are first that it was the Adobe installation that re-installed the
offending add-on, and second, that I don't get the error message when I
start Firefox manually. Neither of these assumptions are necessarily
true; they are just assumptions.

At any rate I found instructions for removing the blasted thing here:

http://xenophilius.wordpress.com/2009/06/04/how-to-remove-microsoft-net-framework-assistant-vulnerability-from-firefox/

I followed the first part of the instructions (removing the files) and
that seemed to do the trick.
