<< Yikes!!* Hope things get better fast!!

Thanks, Toni. I had surgery on Monday and was home Tuesday night, thanks to Medicare. In many ways, it's better to be home, but I'm quite uncomfortable. I can't get back to fairly normal activities for six weeks, and from what I've heard, I'll feel the effects of having had surgery for a while after that. This wasn't a life-threatening issue, thank goodness, just a variety of "female" issues.

Again, thanks for your good wishes.

Yep.* Medicare and a good wraparound is GREAT!*I'm finding out what REAL rehab can do for my shoulder.* My HMO health plan gave a very limited number of therapy visits, and I think that's why I had to have the shoulder re-done.* HMO's are VERY "penny-wise, pound foolish"!

Grrrrr...that's so frustrating!

Tomorrow is "remove the catheter and see if July can empty her bladder" day. The surgery that I had to "fix" my prolapse issues necessitated my having a suburethral sling "installed." I didn't have any incontinence prior to the surgery, but one of the pre-op tests showed that I *would* have had incontinence if the surgeon hadn't added the sling to his list of procedures. So please "think good thoughts" for me -- the success rate for the sling is 80-90%. I want to be able to empty my bladder enough to get rid of this stupid bag AND be part of that 80-90% success rate!

How are you doing now? Rehab is so important. Without a good program, you can end up costing the HMO more!

Judy

Sorry about that last message -- a little too much information, but I thought I was replying to a private message. DUH!

So now you know (most of) the rest of the story!

"Greatest health care system in the world," isn't that what we always hear?
Except it ranks anywhere from 17th to 117th in the world depending on what
standard you are measuring. The only catgeory where US health care is a
perennial #1 is cost.

I'm doing well... already better than before the operation.* I think rehab stopped (ran out of paid visits) just at the point I would have really improved last time!* Good luck with the sling!

Glad you're doing better. That's great news! And thanks for your good wishes. The catheter is history -- and now I'm just trying to feel "normal" (whatever THAT is with my organs all moved around!!).
