Ah. I see a trio of related defs. They may all three be phony, of
course, but i liked them even before i noticed the relation.... i'll
select 12 & 18.

12. the farmland associated with a convent. [Lat. _gleba_, a clod of

Profound apologies for the delay in posting this; a visit to a dentist
turned into visits to two dentists (with another scheduled for next
Wednesday). Great fun.

Below are a score of alleged definitions of GLEBA; one, and only one, is
from an actual dictionary. Vote for the two you suspect of possibly
being that one; do so by direct reply to this message.

Didn't submit a def? Brand-new to the game? You may still vote.

You may NOT vote if you find that you recognize the real definition
among this lot. Should that occur, please advise me privately, by e-mail
(do NOT click "Reply"), so you can be properly recorded as immensely
savvy and not a mere nonvoter.

The deadline for casting your votes: Saturday 5 November, 8 a.m. EDT.
Kindly figure out for yourself what that means for you if you're in a
different zone, and thanks for your forbearance.

—Dodi

Good job guys! Every one sounds equally possible and ridiculous. No idea
whatsoever. I like the way these sound, though:

#10 - insensitive adipocytes

#14 - unit of weight in Portugal

Thanks for the good wishes, Toni, but as noted, there's a visit
calendared for Wednesday. Root canal; the second visit yesterday was a
consultation setting it up. The wallet will hurt more than the tooth. :-(

and

14. a unit of weight formerly used in Portuguese-speaking countries,

I'll go to the convent for a bulbous root - 12 and 17 please.

Having recently added to my collection of crowns (dental not dixon) I
sympathise with your dental situation. I agree the pain is more in the
wallet than the mouth.
