There are a total of 17 definitions for WECCHE. Please vote for two, by
public reply to this message, before deadline, which is 11:00 AM EDT on
Friday, September 23, 2011, or 8:00 AM PDT. As usual, my deadlines are
tailored to my availability on the computer and I'm erring on the side of
longer rather than shorter.

1. A fancy Spanish cookie.
2. A small dessert fruit pastry, usually made with
apricots or dates.
3. A form of rummy using two decks and four jokers; jokers
and deuces are wild.
4. Conserving food in a thick glass jar with a rubber ring
between the jar and the lid, named after the German company
Weck that made these bottles in the early 20th century.
5. A small boule used in the game of pétanque.
6. _It._ Old, ancient (var. _vecche_).
7. Soaking wet.
8. The dregs created when making mead.
9. A leather burkin, usu. decorated with shells or
feathers.
10. An Italian good luck symbol shaped like a sheep's foot.
11. Dried putrefied animal matter.
12. 1. [AS p.part. _wicca_] To have been a witch or wizard
2. [Later] Bewitched, insensate.
13. A very small farm - also a plain, simple barn.
14. [Obs.] Poor.
15. A hot spring.
16. _Obs._ To stir up; excite.
17. [Obs.] The evil eye; bad luck.

practice, I'm flexing the deadline a bit to match my availability online
and taking the longer rather than the shorter.

Hi Christopher,

Avoiding everything food-related or obviously Italian, I am still left
with a choice of good options. But I fancy the bewitched card game: #3
and #12.
