Here is a full house of 20 definitions of yarchagumba, some savory, some not
so much. Nineteen came from the inspired and/or demented imaginings of the
players. One is real. Vote for you 2 favorites no later than 6 PM EDT, Monday, September 5.

1. a pit viper of sub-Saharan Africa; possibly the "asp" said to have
bitten the Egyptian queen Cleopatra.

2. a hunchback.

3. [Noongar] a highly resinous tree prized by Australian Aboriginal
cultures for its essential oils and supposed curative benefits.

4. [Ckickasaw] a tribal elder who arbitrates disputes.

5. [Quechua] A mixture of wet soil, clay, sand, animal dung and straw
used for construction in the southern Andes.

6. a festival celebrating the seasonal arrival of the bogong moths, a
traditional source of food for Australian aborigines.

7. the sap of various species of Euphorbia or spurges, known for its
efficacy as a purgative.

8. a variety of eucalyptus.

9. a resin used as the source of a yellow pigment and as a purgative.

10. [Taureg] a fetish made of peacock feathers and cowgut to assure good
grazing.

11. a running messenger of the Inca empire.

12. the caterpillar fungus (_Ophiocordyceps sinensis_), used in
traditional Tibetan and Chinese medicine as an aphrodisiac and as a

#4 I like and #12 is impossibly contrived (I can see the fruiting body of a
fungus poking out of a caterpillar might have an certain look about it but
it would be so small! Sympathetic magic perhaps but hardly cometing with the
spam adverts for size) - so for want of any other reasons I will choose
those two
