View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2222: PURDONIUM [Results]

Paul Keating
July 14th, 2011, 02:21 PM
In round 2222, votes for top spot were evenly divided between the two
cruel and unusual punishments, Millie Morgan's giant-sized German
piano accordion and Johnny Barrs' universal purgatory.

Millie is ahead of Johnny in the rolling scores and gets landed with
the deal.

Johnny identified the universe of discourse right off: "auctioneers'
catalogues", so I fully expected to receive from him either a DQ or an
accurate educated guess at the real def. But in the event, def 13: "a
decorative coal box with a removable metal liner and a slot or socket
to hold a shovel" (http://www.oed.com/view/Entry/154841?
p=emailAgthvug0ujyNg&d=154841), survived the round undeflowered.

There were three players in runner-up position with 3 points each:
Dave Cunningham, Steve Graham and Judy Madnick.

Only because you did it in a sans font that my client could display. In Georgia it would have looked this way: D0ne.

(Apologies to any players whose mail clients aren’t up to displaying font jokes.)
