I have received Judy's vote for the TATHATA round (2200, I believe).
That arrived about an hour ago.

I have not received a list of defs.

No round 2199 rolling scores either.

Again, the same for me (although I'm not sure anyone has seen rolling scores
for round 2199). I received only what seem to be the first few votes for
TATHATA, not the definition list.

It appears playing by email may no longer be feasible for some of us.

It's working fine for me. The list of definitions was time-stamped 17 minutes before Judy's vote. I
always play by email.

I don't think there has been a rolling scores post.

Best wishes,
Tim B.

I would like to remind us all that even back in the "good old days" of
CompuServe there were problems. Specifically, because CompuServe was used
more extensively by commerce over here in Europe then there were relatively
common attempts to interfere with traffic between Europe and USA; usually by
putting a "spam-block" of CompuServe mail on one of the servers on the
routes across the Atlantic. (that is to say; to tell some transatlantic
server somewhere that all email from CompuServe was spam) It could be undone
in 24 hours but ... you can't run a business that way - and you can't play
our game that way either. The results hardly affected you guys over the pond
at all but it eventually became so frequent that many businesses that I knew
opted out of CompuServe and I myself also changed.

So such problems are not new.

My own suggestion for resolution is - as Paul suggests - to use the gmail
accounts that we all have anyway and to expressly set them to collect all
other email servers that we use.

[[I actually do that with my john-barrs.co.uk account - they are now on
google (if you own the domain then you can do that) so are in essence gmail
and one account there (here!) collects everything I have (including most of
the other john-barrs.co.uk emails) , a couple of gmail itself addresses, a
couple of ntlworld emails, a couple of yahoo emails etc and uses the
labelling facility to separate them out. I very rarely have to go on-site
anywhere else.]]

(I used to use Outlook to do the separation but a new machine and a UK£870
price for MSOffice and I decided I could do without it)

Johnny: an aside on Gmail.

I am as you can see jfshart at gmail.com, but occasionally I receive
mail addressed to jfshart at googlemail.com - this is through no fault
of the sender. I've been told (but can't recall the details) that it's
something to do with Google changing its European mail system a while
back. The misdeliveries are quite rare now, about once a year, so
either it's a very obscure problem or my google-twin is abnormally
emailless.

This of course is irrelevant to the current discussion. And FWIW I
also use gmail as my all-purpose mail address, with other addresses
automatically forwarded to it. I don't like it much for composing or
replying so generally put everything through an early steam powered
version of Outlook Express at home while keeping Google as an
archive.

I haven't posted the rolling scores because I got a new laptop, went out of
town, and my backup disk wouldn't load. So rolling scores will have to wait
until I return (Friday).

I'm fairly certain these are in practice the same address, and either form works. I've just verified
this with my own gmail address.

Best wishes,

It used to be "googlemail" but everyone soon discovered that "gmail" worked
just as well. And yes, they did give people the choice of changing from
"googlemail"... I never bothered. It is not that there are two of me out
there, only one and the two addresses are the same.

As an aside. john.barrs and johnbarrs are the same address! - <at this point
I signed out of johnnybarrs> I am now signed in as johnny.barrs - well,
actually the sign in procedure accepted the full stop but signed me in as
johnnybarrs -- in fact I just did it again and as far aswhat I signed in as
I am signed is as j.o.h.n.n.y.b.a.r.r.s (AT) gmail (DOT) com - but in fact I am here
continuing this draft

I have a strange reminder on the line below the address
dixonary (AT) goglegroups (DOT) com (the line where the Add Cc/Add Bcc. Edit Subject
and Attach a file is ..) it also has "Also include tonicsavage (AT) yahoo (DOT) com" --
I wonder why that is, Toni hasn't even been involved is this thread
(clicking on it adds her to the To: box)

Johnny (and Tim):

I've only ever been gmail. At some time someone else must have had the
equivalent googlemail address and very occasionally his emails came to
me. Now that the two are virtually the same I guess my g-twin had to
choose a new address since I already owned <me> at gmail. I haven't
had any wrong'uns for a while until last week but now it seems that
was a typo.

Interesting that the dots appear to have no effect. I must try it.
