Vote for TWO definitions, as a public forum message (in reply to this one), before the deadline,
which is 9 pm GMT (2100 UTC) on Tuesday 22 March. That might well be 5 pm in New York, 2 pm in LA,
and so on.
New players are welcome, even if you didn't enter a definition this round. Don't look in a dictionary.
1: a purple dye.
2: a sword cane.
3: _colloq._ a parasol.
4: rain which appears to fall upward.
5: partially shaded; within a penumbra.
6: a groom, the husband-to-be, the male fiancée.
7: flowering herb growing in moist areas; milfoil.
8: a raised stone or brick border around a garden.
9: an area of a church in which reliquaries are kept.
10: a small recess or cupboard in the wall of a church.
11: gold-coloured Britannia metal used in souvenirware.
12: highly decorated with precious stones, gold leaf, etc.
13: generally the food of the Gods; more specifically the host in Mass [ME *ambrosia*].
14: a wire grating or screen affixed to the top of a chimney to prevent birds from entering.
15: a thick pitch drawn from under the bark of the eucalyptus tree used by Australian aboriginals to
cure lesions.
16: a poor-house; an institution that distributes food, etc. to the poor [< ME almonry < OF
au(l)mosnerie, a place where alms were distributed]
Best wishes,
Tim B.

I'll go for 7 and 10, although the gold-colored metal is sorely tempting.

I'll try

because it sounds so much more interesting than the dull, downward kind
that's falling here this morning, and

for no particular reason, really.
