Vote for TWO definitions, as a public forum message (in reply to this one), before the deadline,
which is 6 pm GMT on Thursday 3 March. That's probably 1 pm in New York and 10 am on the West Coast,
and so on. Sorry it's a little longer than usual, but I shall be out all day, and have a narrow
window to get the results out before going out for the evening.

New players are welcome, even if you didn't enter a definition this round. Don't look in a
dictionary. Full rules, if you're curious, are in the file RULES.DIX in library 17.

1: a street girl; a mop.

2: the silk-cotton tree.

3: [Gael.] a vehicle bomb.

4: a rapid dance in 2/4 time.

5: a white cover for a military cap.

6: a very hard wax made in Argentina.

7: an inflammatory disease of the joints.

8: the coconut palm. [Philippines, colloq.]

9: a flambé ice cream dessert served in Spain.

10: mixed diced fruits or vegetables; hot or cold.

11: a samba variant with a dominating drum background. (Brazil)

12: a wide-brimmed hat popular in the late nineteenth century.

13: the quality of sound in cellos and double bass instruments.

14: a small cloth structure for the use of a competitor in a medieval tourney.

15: a member of the family Nymphaeaceae; a small genus of American aquatic plants.

16: a dangerous stretch of water where offshore waves break over a submerged reef.

17: the feeling that the top of your head is going to blow off after drinking too many gin fizzes.

18: a spherical hard candy containing differently colored layers, which are revealed as the candy
dissolves.

19: the fruit of a tree found in the Amazon rain forest and used in the production of anti-psychotic
prescription medicines.

20: a small, striped African beetle that emits an offensive odor to ward off predators and to
attract mates for breeding, usually found in the desert regions.

Best wishes,
Tim B.

I vote for 1 and 2, though I did read them all. 3 is droll, Booboo, ve-
ry droll, but (in keeping with the season) _nul points_.

I think I've pretty much narrowed it down to three likelies. And I have
the distinct feeling that I'm about to vote for the two it *isn't*,
those votes being for:

> 2: the silk-cotton tree.

and

> 10. mixed diced fruits or vegetables; hot or cold.

My votes go for #15 and #19 on the hunch it is from a Spanish or Native
language word from American Indians ( North or South).

This is a very difficult round to choose.
Maybe 15 and 20 ... (or maybe not)
