We have a bumper crop of no less than 20 definitions for your enjoyment this round. Is this a record?!

Vote for TWO definitions, as a public forum message (in reply to this one), before the deadline,
which is 6 pm GMT on Thursday 10 February, about 32 hours from now. That should be 1 pm in New York,
10 am in California, and so on.

New players are welcome, even if you didn't enter a definition this round. Don't look in a dictionary.

1: [OE] bleat.

2: good; pleasing.

3: to exhaust; drain.

4: composted leaf mould.

5: a small stream or rivulet.

6: [Scots] charming; agreeable.

7: the inner or partial veil in some agarics.

8: wooden lattice supporting a thatched roof.

9: soaked or saturated with water; drenched, sodden.

10: conical wooden pin used to splice strands of rope.

11: a trench or ditch that conveys water to a mill wheel.

12: [obs]. permission, exemption, dispensation [ME < OE læt]

13: a sweet flavoring of citrus and almond used in cocktails.

14: a pale orange color, somewhere between peach and apricot.

15: a small flag for marking a position, used by surveyors or soldiers.

16: low annual European herb naturalized in America; similar to alfilaria.

17: the skin found directly below the scales of most lizards and snakes and some fish species.

18: a tentative military maneuver intended to determine the size or exact location of enemy forces.

19: [med. obs] to let blood, usually effected by a sharp leating scalpel but sometimes by applying a
leech.

20: a Lithuanian vehicle manufacturer associated with SEAT of Span (now a member of the Volkswagen
Auto Group).

Best wishes,
Tim B.

Same number as last round, Tim. AND the round before that. ;-)

I've read them all, but I'll still go for a couple of the early ones:

and

I will opt for definitions 11 and 18.

11: a trench or ditch that conveys water to a mill wheel.

18: a tentative military maneuver intended to determine the size or exact
location of enemy forces.

Continuing my less-than-stellar performance:

4: composted leaf mould.

17: the skin found directly below the scales of most lizards and snakes and
some fish species.

No. That distinction goes to round 699, in which there were 40 defs to choose from.

Didn't get a def in (then you might have been pressing on a record)
but I'll pick 5 and 6.

PK> No. That distinction goes to round 699, in which there were 40 defs to
choose from.

I think I remember that period. In That Other Game, there used to be a rule
where you'd get 1 vote for <15 defs and two for more. I briefly pondered
proposing 3 votes while we had more than 30 defs.

Lots of definitions, but not many convincing ones. I'll go with a couple
popular choices, 2 and 11:

Paul Keating

I'll go for two popular ones, 5 and 11.
