The snow at my house is already 6.5" to 7" and still falling thickly. I
am ready for a l-o-o-o-n-g spell of above average temperatures,
preferably starting at once.
Just now on the radio I heard there's a possibility of 10" total.
Surely they are joking!

Only 10 inches, huh? We're still digging out from the two-footer we got
a fortnight ago and, we're told, due for another hit late tomorrow. :-(
P.S.: It's been below freezing for days.

I remember getting about a foot and a half in Reston, VA. Had to
backpack groceries in for a few days. I failed to have a handy pair of
snowshoes despite my boy scout training. I now live in Toronto, where
we got 3" over the weekend. Still no snowshoes, but better boots and
clothes than when I lived in Virginia. Also our street shares an
industrial strength snowblower, although 3" is hardly worth firing it up.
Do you have your snowshoes ready?

Yes, the storm is headed for you folks next. Sorry, but I have no
control over it.

Actually, my husband does have a pair of snowshoes. He wanted them for
Christmas one year *when we lived in Connecticut*! At the time we lived
up there we rarely had enough snow for him to use them. Today would be
the day! I wonder if they'll fit me?
We will be fine as long as the power doesn't go out. No power = no water
and we will have to worry a bit about the temperature in the pump house
and whether things might freeze there.
