Matthew,

I know it was a bit before your time, but the word BURIN was played in round
583.

Paul, I'm impressed if your remembered a dealt word from so long ago,
or did you just check the list?

I might recognise a few past words if they got re-dealt but even then
it's most unlikely I would remember their real definitions.

Oh, no, I didn't remember it, even though I played in that round, and so did
you. (But I did have a vague recollection of what the word means.)

I maintain downloadable updates to the rolling scores and the used-word list
for Coryphćus users. That way, it can resolve ties without manual
intervention, and warn about words previously used. The maintenance program
updates the rolling scores automatically after each round by parsing Mike's
emails, but the used words need to be entered by hand. So I always know if a
word has been used before, because that throws up a duplicate.

Paul,

Ah of course, the Coryphaeus archives.

So what was my score in that round? I should have DQed - did I? And
for bonus points what was my definition?

Jim,

Your score in that round was 1 and you did not in fact DQ (but you didn't vote, either). Your def was “(Malay.) a reddish dye obtained from rambutan skins” and it was #28 out of a total of 32 defs presented. (And there were an additional two players who voted but didn’t submit a def. Sigh. Those were the days!)

I’d love to claim the bonus points, but I have to come clean and admit I got it all from http://archive.dixonary.net/archive.
