Our next dealer is Dan Widdis with an impressive 8 unnatural points, just
narrowly beating the OED
(hmmm I reckon the Dictionary loves it when I deal; it generally scores
extra well!)

The correct definition (from the Oxford English Dictionary) was:
11: (Obs.) A kind of jacket or `slop', worn by men in the 14th c.

I was unable to find any link between the Hanseatic League, and the
jacket/slop/tunic = HANSELIN.
The OED makes no connection either, and the etymology is blank.
So I suppose it must just come from the German "hanseline" = a jacket.
.... and that the members of the Hanseatic League probably couldn't have
cared less about what they wore :)

Over to you Dan ... to whom I believe I passed the baton last time I dealt!
Good wishes to all
Millie
