Matthew
August 12th, 2010, 10:30 AM
After a rocky start with a word that took 100% DQs, our new and
improved word, GANANCIAL, has arrived with 17 inventive definitions
and 1 real one.

Vote for TWO definitions, as a public forum message (in reply to this
one), before the deadline: Friday, August 13, 11:00 AM, Eastern Time,
or the equivalent in your time zone.

New players are welcome, even if you didn't enter a definition this
round. Don't look in a dictionary. Full rules, if you're curious, are
in the file RULES.DIX in library 17. --Matthew Grieco

For reasons I can't explain, even to myself, I'll vote for the turnip
and the Vatican official:

> 1: shaped like a turnip
>
> 17: a Vatican government official, usually a bishop, who serves as a
> departmental comptroller

Nice arrangement.

Having boiled the likely candidates down to three, I'll try:

> 7: rudimentary; only partially developed
>

and

> 13: of, relating to, or consisting of community property
>

It's probably the other one.

Gosh, could be any of them (except mine, of course!). I'll go with the animals:

<< 2: pertaining to weasels

<< 10: gooselike; having a long neck and short wings

I will skip the new moon one inasmuch as the Times reports difficulty in
sighting it at Cairo for today's start of Ramadan.

Instead, I will take a wild stab at numbers 7 and 10.

7: rudimentary; only partially developed

10: gooselike; having a long neck and short wings
