I think it's because of my trade, which often requires being visually observant.Then try this one,...on yourself or on colleagues:

1. Take a large (8"x10" or therabouts) sheet of plain paper and a ballpoint pen or a No. 2 pencil.

2. WITHOUT LOOKING, draw an accurate representation of the face of your wristwatch, including as many details as you can. (Obviously, it is going to be easier to enforce the no peeking rule on someone else....)

(It is amazing: Although one looks at the damned thing at least 50 times a day, very few people will get the details right. Most will forget the placement of the second hand, will forget the manufacturer's logo or the "SWISS QUARTZ" banner, will forget the second makers--if any, will forget whether the watch has Roman or Arabic numerals and if there is a full set or just a few,...etc.)

I have to question 9, 10, 14 and 25.

The lowest number on most FM dials is 88. Some can tune to 87.75, which is neat because that is the audio carrier for Channel 6 TV.

The ceiling fan above my head right now, in fact all three in the house, rotate CCW (anti-clockwise, for the Brits) when they are blowing towards you. My CPU cooler does indeed turn CW. Car fans depened on the direction of rotation of the engine.

Second hand?!!!! You have a watch with hands?I hate, despise, abhor and abjure digital watches. I can tell the time by simply glancing at my trusty analog watch--no need to squint, read the numbers, or tilt the thing to make sure the light hits it right.

Perhaps it would be rather cold if one had to stand guard all day long at an outdoor one in the winter time. I read that the Breslover Rebbe joined the polar bear club at the outdoor mikveh when he was just a child. I doubt his Mom found out about it or she would have given him a good scolding.

No, I just 'borrowed' the picture. I was sure that our traditional merry-go-rounds turned clockwise but couldn't find that ones I know I have in my collection (taken at an Xmas fair a year or so ago), so I went Googling... and found one that seemed to go the 'wrong way round'

(probably an import... French and Italian merry-go-rounds also appear to go anti-clockwise)

From the time I was 5 till I was 17 yrs. old, I lived IN a large amusement park on a lake outside Detroit every summer. My father was the ass't park manager and owned the roller skating rink in it. We had a magnificent, huge Merry-go-round in its own domed circular structure. It only had animals (even included an Ostrich) and ornate two-row carriage-type bench seats. The outside perimeter had about 40 units.

It went CCW.

There is a magnificent, permanent one here just outside of the Intra Muros (Walled City) of St. Malo. It also goes CCW.

Ricardo: I wear a Suunto satellite watch. It would take about 75 sheets of paper to draw all the various faces available.
The time version I have up most often has the day of the week, month and date, time, am/pm, seconds, battery status, a couple of parentheses, one on each side, and some other details.
Then there are news screens, stock market, weather, etc., etc. I love gadgets!

I live in New Jersey, remember. EVERYBODY here ate Campbell's soup. Campbell's was the single company that kept Camden afloat for many years. (Even Campbell's eventually gave up, though the place is experiencing something of a renaissance, with the aquarium and some riverside gentrification.)
