I'll go with the music-related definitions (fortunately there are only two!):
<< 8. a small hand-organ reproducing 10-13 high-pitched notes
<< and used teach
<< tunes to canaries; a bird organ
<<
<< 9. a whistlelike mouthpiece for certain wind instruments, such

A weird word, and surely one of the weirdest assortments of defs to come
along in a while.
My wild guesses:

Numbers 2 and 10 are my guesses:
2. a left-footed sock
10. a device sent through oil or gas pipelines to detect leaks [Ono. <
warbling noise made when leak detected]

I'm totally unable to justify the following votes:
> 9. a whistlelike mouthpiece for certain wind instruments, such as a

> a side opening
> 14. a large stook of hay or straw using a hurdle as base

I'm following vox pop with 12.
I would have voted for 10 but for the implausible ety.
I'll try 4, which nobody else seems to like.

Regarding 10, for several reasons I am doubtful that such a device exists. I'll
take the overly popular 12 and unpopular 18:

Ah well. Spain 1, Netherlands 0 at the end of overtime. It was a hard fought game that could have gone either way at the end. Maybe in 4 years the US will gobs little further.

Not, frankly, that I care deeply--but I *was* rooting for the
Netherlands, on Hugo's behalf!

Dodi - I was too. Neither team had won the World Cup and both had come tantalizingly close, losing in the final. The game was hard fought all the way with both teams shining on defense. I had Hugo in mind and isn't Paul living in the Netherlands now?

Daniel -
Quite a variety. I'll go for -
3. a frilled collar attachment
and
11. a crossing point in a dry-stone wall, made by inserting longer
stones in the wall to form steps
Thanks,
Chuck
