And the next deal is for Tim Lodge or Dan Widdis with 4 natural points
each, depending on the rolling scores... which, if I understand the rules
correctly, makes Tim the dealer (14 points rolling score through round 2100),
with Dan escaping that chore by virtue of his rolling score total of 10
through round 2100.

Thanks to everyone for making this round go so smoothly.

No, Dan is the dealer as he is ahead in the rolling scores for this round. You count only the most recent 5 rounds, including the current round, to determine who's ahead. THis is the same as counting the 4 previous rounds (if two or more are tied for the current round), so that's why I added the "4 Rnd" column to the rolling scores. You should use this column from the previous round to break ties until the current rolling scores are posted.

I believe it's the other way around. Tim Lodge's 5-round rolling score, including the results of the round being resolved, in other words round 2097-2101 inclusive, is 6+4 = 10. Dan Widdis's score is 8+4 = 12.

To calculate the 5-round rolling score including the current round, you need to take the previous 4-round score. Adding in the current round then makes no actual difference to the outcome, because the two players have the same score in the current round, otherwise there would not be a tie.

It's a bit absurd (and clearly an oversight on the part of the drafters) but that is what rule 9(b) says.

That, incidentally, is why the 4-round rolling score is also given in the rolling scores report. It's the one you actually use, as opposed to the one that the rules call for. Mike can obviously only draw up the 5-round rolling score to round 2101 only after you have resolved the tie and posted the results. By which time you don't need it.

You're not the first to be tripped up by this. It's been confusing dealers since at least round 233.

Actually, Dick, Dan's the next dealer. It's the 4-round score that counts, so it's Dan's 8 versus Tim's 6.
