Hi Chris,
What I said when I submitted my fake def turns out to be true - the shorter
the word, the harder the choice. What a diverse and believable selection!
I think I'll toss my votes at 4 and 18:
> 4. [Icel.] A mound. (fr. ON _fya_)
> 18. [Obs.] By; by way of; through

May as well get this over with:
<< 5. Flighty, harum-scarum; a flibbertigibbet.
<< 10. An ornament, such as a spray of gems, resembling a tuft
<< of plumes.

I vote for 3 and 13.
I have to wonder, though, what the normal or underweight male dancers in
number 14 would wear. Maybe no tassel on the cap? No cap at all? Or
perhaps the bath discriminates against dancers who are NOT overweight?

LOL!
Personally, I prefer not to think about the dancers in 14 too much - the
mental image is rather 15. ;)

Every one of these--well, almost every one--is just well-phrased and strange enough to be the real one. And four different parts of speech! Gotta be random choices. I'll try:
2. To accept as true; to give credence to.

18. [Obs.] By; by way of; through

I will try number 6 because it seems so unlikely and number 15 for the
opposite reason.

Male dancers in Turkish baths? Eh? That sounds to me as Turkish as Turkish delight.*
Avoiding the fie and fey variants, I'll take the verbs: 2 and 9.

*This footnote was intended to contain a translation of Turkish delight for the cousins. But W3 (which I consulted as the only English dictionary I know that takes food seriously) tells me that it needs no translation: I expected and didn't find chiefly Brit. Some Googling suggests that Turkish delight's sweetness and keeping qualities (both modest) make it unsuitable as a commercial American candy, so I reckon it may fall into the same category as pumpkin pie did for me as a child in Ireland. I knew what a pumpkin was (I had never seen one, but Cinderella's coach was made of one) and I knew what a pie was....

Chris -
Amazing this word didn't attract lots of crossword or Scrabble playing DQ's.
I'll have a go with:
1. _Scot._ Angry.
and, while thinking Fernando might have returned -
14. A tasseled cap worn by overweight male dancers in Turkish baths.
Thanks,
Chuck

FY isn't an acceptable play in Scrabble.
