I hope this tie-breaker is correct!! Please confirm.
In Round 2089, 2 players earned top spot with 4 points;
they were Nancy Shepherdson and Guerri Stevens. Nancy
Shepherdson's definition "a heavy cudgel, usu. used as a
weapon. (obs.)" earned its author the deal, and Guerri
Stevens can heave a sigh of relief that "tiresome; boring"
did not earn one more vote.
There were 2 players in runner-up position with 3
points each: Paul Keating and Daniel Widdis.

The true definition was 16: "to beat or whip; to drive."
(http://www.thefreedictionary.com), which 2 perceptive
players guessed.

According to the Round 2088 rolling scores, Guerri has 8 and Nancy has 3, so I believe it would be Guerri's deal.

Thanks, Dodi. Even though I updated the info on Cory, I see now that the most recent rounds show Nancy and Guerri with 0s, 4s for this round, and Nancy ahead in the cumulative scores. IOW, I did not have accurate rolling scores. <sigh> I guess I can't rely on technology when there's a tie.

I used Cory, and that "technology" is what gave me an incorrect tie-breaker. I didn't use Mike's rolling-scores chart. I would have been better off doing that. <G>

Judy,

Did you by chance run Cory's update function before dealing? I found
on my deal that the tie breaker worked correctly.

Huh? I don't understand what you said, but it has nothing to do
w/technology. All I did was look at Mike's Rolling Scores chart, where
Guerri clearly has more points than Nancy. Now, he's posted the new one,
including round 2089, showing Guerri at the very top of the list with 12
points (Nancy has 7), so Guerri deals.

Yes, I did...because if you recall, I had a "tie" problem a deal or two ago.

Wait -- before dealing or after the definitions came in? Either way, though, it seems as though it should actually update, shouldn't it? Paul has made some suggestions, and I've asked him more questions, so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this.

Sorry to everyone, but I didn't check my Email until now. I breathed a
sigh of relief, and then learned I have to take it back!

I'll post a new word soon.
