The winner of round 2087 is Chris Carson, whose definition
"a torrent" received 4 votes, plus 2 points for guessing
the correct definition.

Toni Savage takes coveted second place with 5 points. And

Urk! I have hit the correct def way too often lately. I hate to have
stolen the deal away from Toni in such a way. I don't know why the midden
heap was so appealing but I noted after voting that Googling the word does
yield much other than something from quotes and sayings to the effect that
"better wed over the mixen than over the moor" which seems obscure at best.
I'll have to probe WorldWideWords and see if Michael Quinion has ever looked
into that one.

Anyway, a new word will be along as soon as I can get my act together and
borrow a few minutes from work to post.
