Well, this IS a surprise. I have no major deadline and am not doing
out of town. So why has the deal fallen to me? Verily, the mysteries
of dixon are deep and profound.

So, anyway, kids, here's your next word...

Please send me your wacky, creative, or just plain dull definitions
(and DQs, if any) to nancygoat at gmail.com

The deadline for submission is:

3 p.m. Friday February 19 EST
2 p.m. CST
Noon PST
8 p.m. GMT (I think)
The rest of you are on your own. But, really, shouldn't we create a
table of players' time zones and seasonal variations? I have no idea
what time it is in Australia!

Looking forward to your missives.

Nah, too complicated, someone would have to update it, and there's
plenty of online clock things if you really want to know. Those of us
who aren't in a US time zone seem to cope.

If you really want to help us foreign players my suggestion is simply
to tell us how long we have, e.g. "about 30 hours from now" since most
message software seems to convert to local time.

The answer is usually tomorrow. Or summer.

That reminds me of long ago when we were leading botany field trips to the
Burren on the west coast of Ireland during summer vacations - long ago means
"before the troubles" - we were standing in the main street of Lisdoonvarna
and a big Cadillac was cruising down the street. It stopped opposite us and
the electric windows rolled down and the driver beckoned the guarda across
and with a very broad Texan drawl asked "Say officer, when do the pubs close
round here?" the guarda scratched his head and said (in an equally rich but
local accent) "I'm not sure sir, I think its November"

The latter can be personalized for your timezone; the former's more interesting.

Right now, Oztime is 17 hours later than yours. (As I write this, it's about 10 a.m. here, 9 a.m. where you are, and 2 a.m. Friday for our players in Melbourne.)

"tomorrow or summer." ROFL -- and true! But that "30 hours from now"
thing is a great idea, Jim. I'll try to put it into practice when I
post the definitions.
