And remember that updating Flash often does not remove the older files. I think "Flash???.ocx" is the culprit.

And remember that updating Flash often does not remove the older files. I think "Flash???.ocx" is the culprit.I don't think that this failure to remove old files is as potentially problematical as it used to be the case with older versions of Java Runtime Environment.
I did notice that Secunia PSI did pick up on the fact that I had an old version (7.x?) of Flash was installed. But I have not heard of actual exploits being able to bypass the newer versions to call up older installed versions remaining on the system.
It used to be the case that Java applets could request to be run under older (potentially unpatched) versions of JRE. Therefore in the past, I actually manually deleted the old version folders after installing updated/patched versions. However, it seems to me that in recent updates the old folders containing unpatched JRE's have been automatically removed during the install of the new.
