Sarah Palin has been in the news recently. But did you know she's also in the dictionary? Yep, you betcha!

For all you cryptodixologists out there, the word for this round is

* * * S A R D A N A P A L I A N * * *

Email me your fake defs no later than 7 PM EST, Wednesday, January 20 to stamps AT salsgiver DOT com.

I just got the message below. It's a little after 3:30 p.m. here, on 19 January. I had never received any posting of a new word by Mike--which had apparently happened early this morning. I did get the rolling scores from the last round, which he seems to have sent an hour or so later.

Weird.

It's very odd. Mike's new word message (S A R D A N A P A L I A N)
has appeared correctly at tapcis.com, but there's no sign of it on the
Google Dixonary group, except as quoted text in Johnny Barrs' nad
message, which was threaded to Mike's rolling scores message.

Yes Tim, it is odd indeed. Not sure when Mike put his word up but it's
now over 18 hours since Johnny B's response and it appears there's
about 12 hours left until the deadline, give or take an hour, so I
think we all have enough time.

Curiouser and curiouser. Mike's original announcement showed up in my inbox
at 12:03pm on 1/19. I don't see it posted to the group either but somehow
it was forwarded via the group and the 'to' block on Mike's message shows
the google groups address.

And it never did reach my mailbox, either. I learned the word only from
Johnny's message.

Does that mean something's wrong at GoogleGroups?

I don't know. I'll have to leave that to somebody conversant with the
operation of Google Groups.

Mike posted directly at tapcis.com, which is why the woid showed up there
first. It's unsurprising to have a delay of up to an hour before the email
gateway interface does its thing to replicate messages to the group. That
part, at least, is not a mystery.

But at Google Groups where it gets weird. The woid was forwarded to (some)
group members, indicating it successfully reached the group, but failed to
reach others. Maybe it got on a bridge to nowhere.
