Here, somewhat later than I'd intended, are 16 plausible
definitions of PALUDAL, all but one of which are imposters. Please
cast your two votes (by public response to this message) for those
you regard as most plausible, by the deadline of:

2000 hours, aka 8:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time.
Other zones, other times.

Good luck, and enjoy!

1. [of water] A state of being over-rich in organic and mineral
nutrients which promote plant life at the expense of animal
life.

2. Any of several varieties of Holothurian (sea cucumber)
harvested principally for their supposed healing properties.

3. _India & Pakistan_ A sycophant, toady, or hanger-on [from the
Hindi and Urdu word for 'spoon'].

4. [Geol.] A layer of soil laid down by the spreading of an
ancient river into a delta.

5. Of, or like, a soft material which has hardened or petrified.

6. Ingenious and complex in design or function.

7. Excessively flowery or verbose, as speech.

8. Of or pert. to marshes or fens; marshy.

9. Of, or resembling, a bier or coffin.

10. (of a disease) Carried by parasites.

11. Having a low or squat appearance.

12. Of or related to errant knights.

13. Having a slightly shiny finish.

14. Of or pertaining to malaria.

15. adj. Referring to a palace.

16. Having rounded edges.

8 and 9 sans reason - and early as always. Um -- what day is the deadline?

I don't know about all 16 being plausible--but yes, at least 13 or 14 certainly are!
Very difficult choice.

My wild guesses, having no clue whatever:
    5. Of, or like, a soft material which has hardened or petrified.
and
    7. Excessively flowery or verbose, as speech.

I'm up the creek without a paludal here, but I'll guess at:

3 and 14 please.

Scott-

In case you meant today, how about -

7. Excessively flowery or verbose, as speech.

and

9. Of, or resembling, a bier or coffin.

Thanks,

Chuck

When at a loss I normally go along with vox pop. But this time it appears
that Pop hasn't a clue.

I admire word choices that elicit defs that have the players voting all over
the place.

I vote for the unpopular 2 and 11.

That leaves only one person to vote for the knights errant (12) and then
Scott will have a complete set!

I'll take 3 and 8 for absolutely no reason whatsoever:
