Gee, a lot of shoe "stuff." I think I'll vote for these:
<< 7. a small hammer used by cobblers.
<< 19. dye used to stain leather for shoes. [Ger. schuster,
<< shoemaker +
<< fleck, stain]
Judy Madnick (who probably got taken in by the shoe "stuff"!)

Love the word.
Kinda like at least a dozen of the defs.
Hmmm. Probably rashly, I'm eliminating the spots and shoes...and boiling
the rest down to

P.S.: Mike, did you really mean Wed 7 p.m.? Well over 50 hours for voting?

8 and 12 -- 8 because it does not say Afrikaans <g> and 12 just because. And neither has anything to do with shoes.

Hi Mike,
What a great selection of defs. I first wanted to go for the two obvious
combination candidates, until I continuted reading and found that there were
two more defs to consider for combining. And then I chose to instead take
one of the four combination candidates and one unrelated, and quite
intriguing def.

I guess I should have made it Tuesday at 7 PM, but let it stand. If every
submitter votes before then I may close the round early.

Mike -
A nice collection. I'll try -
14. a stain, callus, scar or other mark (esp. on the hands) that is
characteristic of a calling or profession. [G., shoemakers' stain]
and
19. dye used to stain leather for shoes. [Ger. schuster, shoemaker +
fleck, stain]
Thanks,
Chuck
