View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2065: CUNJEVOI [Announcement]
Paul Keating
December 14th, 2009, 11:07 AM
The word for round 2065, barring an unexpectedly large number of DQs,
is
*********************
* *
* C U N J E V O I *
* *
*********************
Capitalization is not significant.
Please concoct a fake definition for this word that you think your
fellow players will find plausible, or
entertaining, or both.
The deadline for submissions is on 15 December 2009 at
23:30 PST
and on 16 December 2009 at
00:30 MST
01:30 CST
02:30 EST
07:30 GMT/UTC
and 08:30 CET for me.
You can use the email address coryphaeus (AT) prodigycomputing (DOT) com to
submit definitions. This
is not a requirement: other email addresses you have for me will also
work. To help my email program deal appropriately with your email,
please put "2065" or "CUNJEVOI" in the subject line.

I suspect another DQ - isn't it either a taro or a sea-cucumber? (my mind
will not settle on one of them so I suspect maybe both of these are possible
via some polynesian language where they cook and eat almost anything) - I
will confirm a DQ, or not, as appropriate, when I see defs
For my definition:
Cunjevoi: 1. a lovers' seat specifically with an 's' shaped back do that the
two individual seats face in opposite directions [from Restoration period
_parlour French_ = together I saw them] 2. Also applied to the double stalls
at the back row of a cinema [the derivation here while based on the original
- see 1 above - involves a taboo-word not in polite use]

Sorry, I don't have a crown big enough to cover this one. I
suspect, with the extensive speculation on the possible DQ, that
Paul may want to choose anotherr word.

But when that became obvious, I thought it okay to check the definition
myself and discovered that it is a perfectly all right word describing a
particular kind of Australian flora.
My source, Collins English Dictionary, made nary a reference to any of the
loveseat descriptions and/or slang connotations.
A new word is clearly needed.
