Rats! I didn't get a definition in. But wasn't the deadline much
shorter than usual?

I'll toss my votes at 8 and 13, please.

I'm so sorry you missed the deadline Scott,
but I did set it at approx. 32 hours, which is sort of normal I think?
Hope that's right.

Millie

Millie,

According to the rules, the definition and voting deadlines are set at 24 to
36 hours. That said, a number of dealers tend to stretch those up to 48
hours. I do it myself from time to time if 36 hours would put the deadline
in the middle of the night or if a weekend is involved. My own rule of
thumb is to pick a time that is at least moderately convenient for me to be
on the computer. So your 32 hour deadline falls right into the guidelines.

It is. The established range is anywhere between 24 and 36 hours.
(This assures that any player checking e-mail at least once a day
won't miss anything.)

Thanks Chris and Dodi

.... and that is helpful to have it confirmed that the deadline can be
pushed out a bit longer than the 36hrs, for the sake of convenience.

Millie

Hi Millie,

In response to my complaint about a short deadline, you wrote:

My file copy of your posting the word was date-stamped 3:32 pm on
Wednesday, the 18th (Central Standard Time) and the deadline for
submitting definitions was the following morning, at 7:00 am.

That's a good bit less than 24 hours, and I guess I blamed that
fact for the smaller-than-usual number of definitions.

But I may well be misreading or miscalculating time zones.

And I have heard people say, "It's only a game..."

Hmmmm that is indeed a puzzlement Scott ...

I did in fact post the new word at exactly 3:32 pm on
Wednesday the 18th but that was my local Melbourne time (Australian Eastern
Daylight Saving), which I think, by my calculation, should have been 10:32pm
Tuesday for you.
