Another toughie; plenty of well-written, sense-making defs. I've
narrowed it down to only eight possibles. That includes mine.

Having narrowed the other seven to a mere five, I'll opt pretty
much at random for:

I love the idea of the spotted skink, but I can't believe a real def would say
"largest of the genus" without spelling out said genus. So I'll settle for the
clay and rod:
