Well, Mike's done it again; his decorative stationery border, #8,
racked up the top score of six points. But again, he's escaped by
leaving town, and the next dealer will be the next-in-line, Dan
Widdis, whose little speck, #3, attracted three votes and who
also picked the real def, #4, for a total score of five. Hugo
also picked the real def and, as he was the first to vote in the
round, instantly did me out of any D0 hopes.
About the word, on which Johnny Barrs DQ'd (surprise!) and for
which Paul Keating had the right etymology (see #18): Fronde is
French for sling (frondée is slingshot; fronder, literally to
sling, figuratively to blame or find fault). The Fronde was a
mid-17th century opposition movement in France; its members were
the Frondeurs. With a lower-case "f" the word acquired its
general meaning as seen below, in both French and English. I
found it in Merriam-Webster Int'l II.
