It's here it's here it's here it's here... Am I excited about my new Canon 7D camera? Noooooooo not me. Not more than a five-year-old on Christmas Eve, that is.

First off, it's gorgeous:

And it has wonderful clarity in the images, even at very high ISOs.

At 6400 ISO

At 3200 ISO:

And under ordinary shooting conditions, it's just terrific:

That first picture is amazing! I've never seen any kind of auto timer thingie that would allow a camera to take a picture of itself with the lens cap on!

And the rest of the pictures are amazing too. ISO 6400!!

[Update:] Oh, I just figured it out... That isn't a lens cap, that's just the camera body with the lens off and a cover over where the lens goes. So the camera has some sort of remote wireless lens! That's still amazing!

Oh! And here I was thinking that if SLRs use mirrors, then a new DSLR must use an external mirror that works faster than the speed of light.

Congrats, yip!

Now the animals won't have any privacy!

Mike,

Congratulations! There is a current discussion (http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ws-photography&tid=34852) of it in the CompuServe Photography Forum. It seems to be a real winner!

Now, about that hard-edged bokeh in the final frame.............

>hard-edged bokeh

Yah, she obviously needs a body cap with more spherical aberration.

(Congrats, Judy, and you've already proved you deserved it on the first "roll.")

And (if only) it could REALLY shoot Tree Rats too, Judy would be in 7th Heaven!I have the treerats pretty much tamed now, believe it or not. The three feeders I use (Brome Squirrel Buster Plus (http://www.bromebirdcare.com/sbp/sbpeindex.html), Heritage Farms Absolute Combo I (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=19407&cmpid=10csesh&ref=3554&subref=AA&srccode=cii_13736960&cpncode=25-11381406-2) and Droll Yankee tube feeder (http://www.drollyankees.com/products.cfm?ID=360)) let them pick up the droppings on the ground, but that's all. It's a pleasure to watch them getting frustrated right out of their little rodent skulls.

Judy,

Tamed? No. Frustrated? Yes! (Dead as a doornail... in your dreams!)

I can just imagine you cracking up while watching them enjoy the Judy treerat weight loss program!

Sigh... I'm satisfied.
