In round 2043, 2 players earned top spot with 5 points: they
were Tim Lodge and Toni Savage. Tim Lodge's definition "a
keepsake; a token of affection" earned its author the deal,
since by my reckoning he is two ahead in the rolling scores.
Toni Savage can heave a sigh of relief that "a pocket
[rare]" did not earn one more vote.

There were 4 players in runner-up position with 3 points
each: John Barrs, Tim Bourne, Russ Heimerson and Mike
Shefler.

The true definition was 11: "a small sofa" (Century
Dictionary, as cited by wordnik.com). I really thought that
nobody would believe this, but when John Barrs posted
the exact definition as a NAD I knew I had a vote coming.
The OED 2 shows it as a word for which it has no citations
and gives a definition in scare quotes:

‘A small sofa’ (Webster, 1828-32).

I didn't feel I could reasonably leave the quotes or the
attribution out of this definition, but wordnik.com had the
Century Dictionary definition, without the quotes: not
surprising, since it was indirectly based on Webster 1841.

Apologies, and two dealer points, to Judy Madnick, whose
definition would have been the 11th to arrive, had it not got
stuck in one of my spam filters. I did check them, but
missed the message.
