13 and 16 sound interesting.

None seem credible. I'll try #1 and #12, which make as little
sense as any.

So where's the real one? <sigh>
Probably not these:
<< 1. [M.E.] A partial payment made.
<< 2. [Hindi] a spicy mixed vegetable pickle.
And, yes, I really did read them all. It was easiest to just pick the firs two.

Wow -- what a motley mix! None seem likely to me, so I'll take a WAG at

I still think it refers to a fishing trip intending to catch members of the

Very good! I'll join you, they are meant to be good eating - what kind of
fly do you use (me, I'd probably use a Larus)

I don't believe 16: it's the choice vocis populi but it sounds to me like a
JohnnyB def, with an encyclopędia entry in the ety. So I vote for the
unregarded 8 and 10. I did look at the even less-regarded 15 and 19: worthy
but somehow unconvincing. I could have voted for 15 but for the competition:
it is the right shape.

15 is hilarious, but I think I'll go with disgusting and the sole
Spanish-looking verb: 6 and 8:

Christopher -
From the varied choices I'll try -
3. An expedition; a ship-raid [Old Norse].
and
15. [Hindi] A tanner.
Thanks,

I'll go with one of the Old Norse, #3, and to make sure everybody gets a
point, #19.
