I allowed extra time beyond the deadline before filing this report,
since several regulars who'd submitted defs for BOOBY-HUT still hadn't
shown up to cast their votes.

Three never did vote--including our next dealer, Jim Hart, whose
caboose-topping cupola (#2) struck the fancy of no fewer than 7
players. Runners-up were Dave Cunningham (#9) and Johnny Barrs (#14),
with an unnatural 5 and 4, respectively.

In addition to Dave and Johnny, Russ Heimerson singled out the real
definition of BOOBY-HUT, #6. I found the word in Mathews's Dictionary
of Americanisms; he got it from Bartlett's 1859 work of the same name.
It's also in a number of online dictionaries. The term was in use,
mainly in New England, during the late 18th through 19th centuries.

Further details, below.

Over to you, Jim!

Apologies to Dodi for not voting in time, and to everyone for not
posting a new word yet. I was too busy on other things and forgot to
log on to the weekend laptop, so I only just found out. Once again the
quick definition scored much higher than expected. OK, enough
prevarication, new word coming shortly, I hope.
