That's interesting. Just the opposite of Tim: I received the results
of round 2039, but not the rolling scores.

I think we have to be very careful when we 'reply' - and then change the
subject.

Gmail has some funny ideas (by funny I mean, different to other providers
and probably more consistent) where they keep a thread together even if the
text of the subject changes - which of course causes chaos to other people
when the subject change is made by copying the subject of another existing
thread because the user's own software may well decide to thread on the text
in the subject line. For it receives conflicting information "this is in a
thread, but the thread it is in does not have the thread subject" What do I
do?

Note also, as I commented last week. If you send an email with a new
subject, then gmail does not put it into your inbox until it has a reply
(again, that is logical, it is in your outbox/sent-mail and does not need to
be in your inbox until it receives a reply and becomes part of a thread)

So, if you start a thread by using a new subject then it will not come into
your inbox until someone replies - and in the context of those who play via
email you (as author) *may* not see it for a while. Meanwhile gmail has a
problem if you also change the title to that of an existing thread, it is in
a thread, but which thread?

Basically, I think that we would avoid a lot of the problems we are
experiencing if we are more careful and not changing subject when we "reply"
- And if we create a "new" email, then not copying an existing subject into
it without making some change to it.

Incidentally, this is not a new problem. One could cause chaos in the old
Compuserve readers by "reply" and "subject change" - I didn't know Tapcis,
but all email readers that I used got their knickers in a twist if people
did that.
