Many players commented, when submitting their defs, that GHETCHOO was
an "interesting" word. Indeed. And this was an interesting--nay,
extraordinary--round: an extraordinary number of votes attracted by
just two players, and an extraordinarily close race.
It was, in fact, neck-and-neck until the final vote cast, when one top
contender, Tony Abell, voted for the def of the other, Mike Shefler.
That gave Mike's taxi or jitney (#7) 8 points to a mere 7 for Tony's
tricycle (#10)--so Mike's the next dealer, Tony the real winner.
There were two not-very-close runners-up, with 3 points each: Chris
Carson's social gathering (#3) and Judy Madnick's satchel (#17).
The real def almost bagged a D0 but just missed, thanks to Jim Hart,
who zeroed in on the aquatic herb (#15). The word and def came from
M-W's big International II.
Full details below.
Over to you, Mike!
