For a change, I'm prepared to believe quite a few of these defs. I'll
go for the two surveying and navigation defs:

15 and 19 please.

Sheesh -- I had to check my sent mail to remember *my* definition, and I don't believe it any more than any of the others!!

Here are my guesses:

<< 12: formerly, after a mathematical proof, etc: a statement of a
<< related conjecture or unsolved problem; as opposed to lemma,
<< subsidiary result

(mainly because I didn't vote for the last math winner!!)

and

<< 15: An ancient Egyptian protractor consisting of a loop of rope
<< having twelve evenly spaced knots and used for laying down
<< right angles

for the same reason!

Excepting the one I submitted, every single one of these seems
possible. Congratulations to all. Votes to #2 and #17.

Millie -

From your outstanding collection I'll have a go with -

3: a natural rock hole formed by weathering (commonly in granite) in
which rainwater collects

and

15: An ancient Egyptian protractor consisting of a loop of rope having
twelve evenly spaced knots and used for laying down right angles

Thanks,

Chuck
