Interesting array--seven adjectives, six nouns, five verbs. I think
I'll vote for a couple of the verbs, which nicely pair the notions of
deflation and inflation: #7 and #17.

#16. To eliminate from consideration.
Now to press "Send" quickly, before I think about it any more, and change my

Tough one...too many "residues," and if this *is* a residue, I'm sure to choose the wrong ones. <sigh>
I'll go for these:
<< 1. Any unidentifiable residue or waste from an industrial
<< process.
<< 11. The residue left after vacuum distillation in the crude
<< oil refinement process.

7. [Mus. obs.] To gradually decrease in intensity, volume, or duration.
and
9. Ornamented in a vulgar, showy fashion.

I'll take 15 and 16 just because I like them, not because either is likely to be
the real one.
