View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2023 MUSCARDINE Results

Millie Morgan

In Round 2023, Jim Hart and Mike Shefler tied for top spot with 4 natural
points each, followed by Nancy Shepherdson and Russ Heimerson
who each scored 3.

I'm afraid declaring the next Dealer is a bit beyond me,
so I will throw it open to all you wiser ones out there.
Please could "somebody" announce the Dealer for 2024?

The true definition of MUSCARDINE was No. 5
"a fungal disease which is very destructive to silkworms"
from Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary,
published 1913 by C. & G. Merriam Co.

Congratulations on a D0 on your first deal. Statisticians please tell
us - has this been done before?

As far as I know, with equal scores a natural (all votes) beats an
unnatural (votes plus guessing the real one). Mike and I are both
naturals.

Next tiebreaker is the latest rolling score, so I think I just had a
narrow escape. Just as well since I would have great difficulty
dealing over this weekend.

Because it looks like Mike might have legitimate claim to the crown anyway,
and considering Jim will have difficulty dealing the next round,
I will (tentatively) declare Mike Shefler the Dealer for Round 2024.

Congrats on the D0! Very likely it is the first time a first-time dealer has
pulled that off.

Congrats on the D0 first time out! That gives you the percentage lead
in that category by far!

Congratulations on your D0, Millie!

(Anyone know if this is the first D0 on a first deal? Has Millie made
history?)

Millie,

Congratulations on the D0 on your first deal. I don't think that's ever
happened before. I'm kicking myself because I had a nice def for you all
ready to go, saved in my drafts folder and then I got tied up and didn't get
back online until after the deadline.

Millie,

Congrats on the D0. You join an elite group who fooled everyone on their
first deal:

Chuck Emery in round 210
Ray Magnuson in round 501
R Allen in round 1052 (I think this was the former Susan Summers).

New word coming up...

Congrats on the D0! Coming in "real winner" spot so often, and now proving
you can pick great woids -- soon we'll have to stop attributing it to
beginner's luck and assume you know stuff!

Millie, Congratulations on the D0--a very well-chosen word!
