The winner of round 1630 is Dave Cunningham, whose definition "naked,
especially in athletic events" was a runaway winner 9 votes, and Dave
also got 2 points for guessing the correct def.

There were 2 players in coveted second place with 5 points each: Dodi
Schultz and Toni Savage.

The true definition (12) was a conflation of Chambers 9 and OED 2. The
fret definition came from Chambers and the percolator from the OED,
apparently copied from Webster 1864 and marked ?US.

The OED said "Greek fret" and insisted the word was capitalized.
Neither was borne out by the citations, so I decided to keep the
Chambers def. I couldn't check the Webster reference: it's not in
Webster 1828 or Webster 1913 (W1), so I kept the 2nd signification as
the OED had it.

I chose this word knowing full well that nearly every player would
look at it and say 'That is the French word for Greek'. I did this
because in round 974, Toni Savage played _tedesco_. I looked at that
and said 'That is the WGmc word for German borrowed into Italian or
Spanish'. A significant minority of players at the time reckoned that
knowing that was tantamount to "knowing the word" and so I should have
DQd. This was an opportunity to demonstrate the contrary.
