Hannie van Belle, the friend of Marijke who sent word of the latter's
death, found that she was unable to get into the CompuServe Science and
Math Forum, where Marijke was a long-time member. She asked me to go there,
if I could, and let them know.

I do have access to the forum, and I did post a notice there. Since then, a
number of forum members have responded with notes fondly recalling Marijke
and her participation and contriutions there; I've picked them up and
passed them along to Hannie. One member commented that he had saved many
quotes from Marijke's posts, and he posted some.

I thought the Dixonarians might enjoy a couple of them as well:

>> "There's an unbelievably liberating aspect to coming across the
>> concept, possibly for the first time in your life, that you can know
>> something not because you're told, not because you bought the
>> answer, not because you're good looking, not because the person in
>> charge gave you permission, not because you're the right
>> nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, blood group,
>> etc., but pure and simply because *you* can see it's a valid
>> conclusion, and you know your mind works reliably, and you can find
>> out things you didn't know before, and check they *are* right, just
>> by thinking!"
>>
>> "AFAICS there's precisely one property that is uniquely human. We
>> seem to be the only species that is forever frantically clutching at
>> straws trying to find the one thing that uniquely sets us apart from
>> other species."

How about "that uniquely sets a apart from other humans"?

What I posted was a quote from Marijke van Gans, a Dixonary player who died
on Tuesday. I think what she said was what was intended and that it makes
sense.
