The def I sent you seems to have gone adrift. That will teach me to
be too clever: I sent it to keating _AT_ acm.org - I guess you can't
be reading that address at the moment.

I am reading that address, and I did get the message with the def, but
dropped it. Thunderbird's support for MAPI is, to say the least, quirky.
It doesn't take timezones into account when reporting time sent, and its
definition of "inbox" and "unread" bear little relation to the display
in the GUI.

I am so embarrassed about this error that I will spend a morning next
weekend migrating my mail back from Thunderbird into Outlook Express,
where MAPI works more or less properly. Much as I admire Thunderbird's
design, I have had a couple of disappointments in the implementation,
and this is the last straw.
