Has anyone else set their preferences for this group to receive email
digests of messages? If so, are you receiving them? I haven't
received any email digests since I got back from India 3 weeks ago.

I get digests and I am still receiving them.

However, this happened to me once, too, and I fixed it by going into
my membership profile on the group site and changing it to individual
messages, then going back in and changing it back to digest. Might
work for you.

Thanks, Nancy

I'll try that.

I've a suspicion that my lack of digests might be due to an over-
enthusiastic spam filter, but your suggestion may help to rule that
out.

Tim -

Something just quit working, as I picked up eMail last night after 8 PM
and did not receive the new word which Tony posted 15 hours earlier
until this morning. I've been receiving all Tapcis related info as
eMail from Dixonary (AT) googlegroups (DOT) com. Should I be using a different
method? I prefer eMail to having to visit a website.

Thanks,

Chuck

Further checking reveals that I failed to pick up any eMail yesterday,
which was a difficult day as I'm seeing a cat who has shared my home for
the past 13 years through his last days with oral cancer. I'm glad to
report that he's feeling much better today, alert, eating well, and
going outside (for 15 minutes at a time, since it's -5 C).

There is still a problem with the mail, as the 5AM ish posting should
have been received when I did my last pickup at 8PM of the same day -
even if it was the day before yesterday rather than yesterday.

Sorry,

Chuck

Sorry to clog up the works with so many posts, but whatever happened to
the mail on the 6th does not seem to be happening today - everything
I've posted has been sent back to me within a minute or two. So I guess
there is no current problem.

Thanks and Sorry,

Chuck

I followed Nancy's advice and set my preferences to "receive
individual emails" about 24 hours ago, and have received absolutely
nothing since. I've set it back to "receive digest", so it will be
interesting to see if anything happens.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat.

Hi Tim,

After reading this message, I decided to don my moderator hat and checked
your membership record. It shows that sending of emails has been stopped
since two messages bounced, on 13 and 15 november. (Both shortly after
midnight, but I'm not sure what time zone Google groups uses to display
times.)

The november 13 mail was bounced with this error message:
"Server albatros.unitedhosting.co.uk[83.223.124.7] failed with: 550
5.7.1 <.............................>... Relaying denied. Proper
authentication required."

And the november 15 mail shows this error:
"72.249.26.200 does not like recipient. Remote host said: 550 Requested
action was not taken because this server doesn't handle mail for that user"

I have clicked the button to send a test mail. If that goes well, normal
relaying of email messages, either individual or in digest, should resume.
If not, then we'll first have to work out whhy your email server doesn't
accept these mails.

(BTW, I have two email addresses for you in my contact list; I've sent this
mail to both. The email address that Google groups uses is the iel7j001
address).

Best, Hugo

Hi Hugo

Thank you so much - you've solved the mystery! As you may have read,
I was in India from 5th November to 12th December and only able to
check my email occasionally. Just before I left, I'd got a renewed
credit card, with a new expiry date and security code. My hosting
provider wasn't been able to collect my monthly fee by direct debit as
they were using the old details, so they took down my website and
email on 13th November. I realised what was going on when I found I
couldn't check my email on the 15th. As soon as I gave my hosting
provider my new card details they reinstated everything. So Google's
messages in that period bounced and as a result they stopped sending
any more.

I got both copies of your message as well as one from Google which
gave me a link that I used to reactivate mails being sent to me.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards

My heart goes out to you. We have had two cats suffer from cancer, one
of which was an oral cancer. It is really hard!
